Looking for the name of the NYC cabs.

I am looking for the manufacturers name of New York City cabs that were all aver the place years ago.
Some were brand new, but still had the 50s look. These are the cabs that were often seen on the TV show TAXI.

There is a well heeled executive in Toronto that has a champagne coloured Checker as his chauffeur driven limo. I''ve never been able to find out his name.
