In the market for a new computer. Would like to get a high end gamer system. Want to keep it around 1500.00. Going to have to get OEM copy of WinXP as well.

Anyone have a favourite store they like to deal with? Please post a url if they have one.

Your not going to get a high end gamer system for that price. Mid-level game system at best. My monitor cost more than your computer does.

Sure he can.

Here are my recommendations... but rather than getting a preconfigured/built computer, buy the parts separately and put'em together (either by you or by the store people).

1. Canada Computers
2. PC Gate Computers
3. Tiger Direct
4. www.ncix.com
5. Dell
6. Future Shop
7. Best Buy

Stay away from MDG at ALL COSTS!!!

Definitely go with the one on eBay, much newer specifications. That is actually a very good configuration for that price. good find.

if you can get by with a little less power...

... and would like to save some serious cash.

http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=010911&cid=170.45

other nice thing is, they have 3 in stock in the downtown location according to thier website, so you walk in, buy it and are ready to go right out of the box tonight, assuming you buy XP there and install it tonight first and then your games. Think of all the hobby money you could blow then... as you went signifigantly under budget,LOL:D

Thanks for the link wumpscut. I'll have to compare the two systems. Price is great, my concern is having to replace the lower priced/less power computer within a year or two. The way games are going, you need top of the line to run games. I've got a P4, ATI 9800 Pro, 512 MB of Ram and 2 big HD's and I can't run Hitman at all, and HL2 crashes on me all the time.

ya but vista will cost more and is it REALLY worth getting?
I read some articles online that made me weary about the whole thing.
I'd stick with XP, I'll post the link when I find it about Vista and what a pain in the ass it's going to be maybe.

if he wants to game yes. Games like alan wake are vista exclusive as they need DX10 which is not compatible with windows xp
