I have enjoyed my existing media player that plays the hundreds of movies I've accumulated on the USB connected hard drive. It plays every format even DVD VOB files. The problem is that I love watching YouTube videos and would like to also surf the net from the TV. I don't want to trade up the LCD to a smart TV so I'm looking at adding a smart media box.
I have looked at Roku 3 but it is more for streaming and has fewer permissible movie formats. I have looked at the new Android media players and like the support for Android apps and the capability to stream content from my phone as well as using it as a remote.
I'm not interested in 4K support but would like a few GB internal storage to run apps, etc. Has anyone had any experience with these devices ?
