...and this seemed like a great place to ask for advice.

I have a design in mind that is fairly simple and not overly detailed, but is unique in that I've never seen one quite like it and it will need to be designed.

So I am looking for a talented, reasonably priced tattoo artist, ideally in or near the downtown core, who can draw and apply what I have in mind. Quality is of course first and foremost, but price is a fairly significant factor as well.

If the artist happens happens to be a hot girl...not the end of the world ;)

Thanks in advance.

"ideally in or near the downtown core"

That's a little out of the way, but thanks.

I'm figuring I will have to meet at least once before it is put on so I'd like to stay as close to work as possible.

how about goling into a Toronto tatoo forum group
Oh that's right. I forgot we shouldn't start like 11 new threads a day about things that have been discussed many times over the years...

{its cool for me to be snarky, btw, but that conduct is unbecoming of a lady ;)}

Why not PM Malika Fantasy, Carly Black, or Sydney de Sade? All have extensive and exceptionally well done artwork. I'm pretty sure they'd be happy to share who their artists are in confidence.

Not a bad idea actually (cheers)

What "type" of ink were you looking for?
Some artists are better than other in specific type like Japanese, old school, realistic etc
First, thanks! :D

Realistic would probably be the best definition. It's an arm band so probably like 2 inches or so and all the way around in between bicep and shoulder

At the risk of being a dick, why would you worry about price or convenience for something that's going to be on your body for decades?

fair enough...largely because if you can get great for lets say $300, why pay $650? Same principle as with SPs...I'm sure there is some real quality at $800/hr, but that doesn't mean you can't find perfection at $350/hr (from experience ;) ).

Similar reasoning for convenience. Someone above recommended a place in BC. I don't care how good they are, not happening. My assumption, though I may be mistaken, is that the bulk of the "top" tattoo artists in the city are in or relatively near downtown. Given that I can likely find someone that meets if not exceeds my expectations down here, why should I go to Milton, or Pickering, or whatever? It's not like I have heard of these people and will brag about who did the work.

I would say that there is more variation of skill, in most things, among the top 10% than the bottom 90%. If I were going to do something permanent I don't think I'd see any cost difference between $300 and $650.

That said, your body.

I'd say the SP analogy is a bad one, that's a passing thing, like a meal, you'll do it again tomorrow, why agonize.

I don't know that I agree, particularly in terms of the analogy...all my thoughts are gold ;) (I'll grant you, however, that I will be doing it again tomorrow). My point is that there are tons of people in the city, and the Indy section here for that matter, with fantastic tattoos and I highly doubt they all went to the same 2 or 3 "masters", hence the request for input and suggestions.
