I think your boss has dyed his brain, he needs to be a bit more specific rather then just the best lol I have a HP 1702 flat screen, they also have them bigger then that or you can also try Dell, just check their web site you can google it as well

Just order one from say futureshop I'm sure he'd be happy with a large LCD monitor pick a recognizable name e.g. samsung

Alexis..what does he do on the computer? Other than compare hair colours?

Thats what is the determination for your purchase.

If he's a strictly biz guy..then shy away from gamer displays. Likewise...if he is a gamer..then you will need a gamer display.

But, the most important aspect of this purchase is the current video card. Does it share memory space with the computer or is it independant memory? How much video Ram does it have...again...you need to look at this before buying a new monitor..lol

He may need a new video card based on his computer usage. (I am well aware of the number of "executives" that play solitaire all day long!) Some of thos gakmes are pretty video intensive!

Detemine what he uses the computer for and then buy accordingly.

One thing I will tell you, is that Samsung supplies the LCD components for many of the LCD products offered. You will get better pricing buyng a Samsung unit over other brand names with exactly the same quality as Samsung supplied the components.

As far as the monitor goes i got one for 1500 for him all the info at work ......they never said anything about a gamer he doesnt play games unless i need a gamer for terb ? Do i ?

I just bought an Acer AL2216WBD last weekend for my niece. Liked it so much I'm going to get one for myself today. Movies looked incredible, TV card looked good, very bright screen and tons of desktop space.

22" Widescreen @ 1680 x 1050 resolution. for only $379 http://www.pccanada.com/viewitem.asp?id=4907

I got the last one, but CanadaComputers has some in stock, same price. ( I just prefer to deal with PCCanada)

Funny thing is, I went to TigerDirect first, to see another monitor, but nothing on display impressed me. All the screens seemed dull and lifeless. I went to adjust the one I came in to see and it was at full brightness, but still dark..so I power cycled it and the whole row of monitors went off. Turned out they had daisy-chained the monitors using the DVI and Analog inputs. No wonder they looked bad.

Really Retired.....REALLY!
The absolute best LCD displays are made by Apple ;)

Now don't get me wrong, I am not a big apple fan or anything and while their computers do 'look' pretty sweet, I, for some reason prefer a windows environment. But like I said they make the best LCD's ..... hands down.

I personally have a couple of 18" NEC's, had them for about 4 yrs now and I am very happy with them over all.

I bought a 19" Acer AL1912 last January and it was just as cheap as the 19" I bought (and later returned) from Bestbuy on Boxing Day and it had an additional year of warranty.

I am a big apple fan, but I was talking to a graphic designer friend the other day and he told me that Lacie makes some of the best monitors. They are apparently the most accurate for color and used my alot of graphic professionals.

Also did you know that you can now run windows on a mac?

Thanks

Lacie's CRTs, the 19" blue ones with a hood, were among the best that you could get. I'm not sure how their LCDs now stack up and I'm on Mac boards all the time.

As for best LCD today? I've been hearing great things about the Samsung 214T. It's a bit pricey, though.

Dell has some excellent monitors, especially in the larger model sizes, and gives Apple's LCD's a run for the money. Given a choice between an Apple LCD and a Dell one, I'd go with the latter. I've been a victim of the 1710 and Colorsync 17 disasters.
