Recently, the Supreme Court announced their decision allowing public sex between consenting adults behind closed doors. In light of that, I am considering starting a business, and I would appreciate feedback from the Terb membership.

We would offer live sex shows. We would buy ads on places like Terb, naming a date and a location, initially a hotel, probably on a Thursday or Saturday night. People would email to say that they were attending. On the day I would book a suite at the hotel, and email / call the attendees with the exact location. They would pay perhaps $50 admission. There would be an attractive nude hostess serving drinks, and a bouncer.

The performers would be perhaps two girls and three guys. They would perform in a variety of combinations (no male on male though), just like porno, with a variety of positions, cum-shots, etc. Attendees could watch, satisfy themselves if they chose, but not participate.

The target market would be the guy who might buy a porno tape, or go and watch the show at a strip club, and wants to take it a step further. I do not think that it directly competes with a lap dance or MP visit, it is more for the voyeur than the participant. There is certainly a market for this in other countries, would it work here? I think there is a small untapped market for something like you described. Many people are voyeurs and simply want to sit back and be entertained with a performance. The price seems fair, having a hostess and drinks would give it a good atmosphere.

Initially, it may be wise to follow the fact situation in the SCC decision carefully. That place was a "club" and people were "interviewed" and given membership cards ahead of time. Plus the place chosen was pretty secure with no chance of annoying neighbours of having passers-by or hotel staff figure out what was shaking.

The problem might be with the size of the audience. Although there are undoubtedly a lot of people who would enjoy watching such a show, most of them wouldn't enjoy it with some guy beside them wacking off, (or some guy beside them, while they wack off). Voyeurism is usually a furtive activity, or at least, a discrete one, if the participants are aware of the audience.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I do not underestimate the potential legal issues. Partly it is something that I would do on principle, because I do not like the fact that the people think that it is appropriate to control other people's sexuality. I just learned that there is a fringe political party in BC called The Sex Party, www.thesexparty.ca. In addition to being in favor of prostitutes rights, they conduct live sex shows in BC that are open to the public, and have not been busted. It is run by a lawyer, he dares them to charge him.

As far as the hotel is concerned, the longer term plan would be to rent a permanent location, it may be that this would have to happen sooner rather than later.
