Certainly colourful language C.C.

As to the article itself, I'd have expected this more at a mall in Laval than on the south side of the river.

You will find less hard core separatist in the city than off the island of Montreal, but they can be found all over. Mostly younger people are not separatist, the young separatist are mostly unmotivated, uneducated and of the lower classes. The hard core separatist are left overs from the 50s or 60s. They have the mentality that they are
Maitre chez Nous ( Masters in their own house ) and can tell people what to wear and what and how to speak.

A few years ago I was in Mont Tremblant provincial park fishing. I caught a huge 3 1/2 lb. speckled trout. Most of the time a fair size trout would be about half a lb. At noon we went back to shore to have a bite of lunch and there were other fishermen that returned to shore for their lunch. We showed the fish to the Quebecois fishermen and they were impressed but not happy about it. They returned to their truck for lunch. From a distance I could hear them grumble, I heard the words Tête carrée and a French Canadian curse word. The thinking is that in Quebec of some Quebecois is that even the taking a large fish is reserved only for the Pure L a i n e Quebecois.

Indeed.

What I was driving at is that the Graduate Student appears to be from a North African (Francophone) background, and that in my admittedly less than extensive experience there are far more members of that community on the north side of Montreal than on the South Shore.

The Little girl ( a graduate student in international law at the Université de Montréal,) is explaining to Marois that the Quebec charter of Values and Quebec Language legislation is infringing on human rights of people to wear what they want and making criminals of people wanting to put up signs in English.

Marois explains that the girl is not wearing a hijab, therefore the her rights are not infringed upon. The girl then tells Marois that if she wanted to wear a hijab she would not be allowed to under the Quebec charter of Values.

Marois is chuckling nervously and tries to get away as quickly as possible.
