You will find less hard core separatist in the city than off the island of Montreal, but they can be found all over. Mostly younger people are not separatist, the young separatist are mostly unmotivated, uneducated and of the lower classes. The hard core separatist are left overs from the 50s or 60s. They have the mentality that they are
Maitre chez Nous ( Masters in their own house ) and can tell people what to wear and what and how to speak.
A few years ago I was in Mont Tremblant provincial park fishing. I caught a huge 3 1/2 lb. speckled trout. Most of the time a fair size trout would be about half a lb. At noon we went back to shore to have a bite of lunch and there were other fishermen that returned to shore for their lunch. We showed the fish to the Quebecois fishermen and they were impressed but not happy about it. They returned to their truck for lunch. From a distance I could hear them grumble, I heard the words Tête carrée and a French Canadian curse word. The thinking is that in Quebec of some Quebecois is that even the taking a large fish is reserved only for the Pure L a i n e Quebecois.
