LINDROS SUFFERS 9TH CONCUSSION AT NEWS CONFERENCE
TORONTO (AP). It happened quickly and decisively. Eric Lindros, in what should of been a highlight of his career, tripped on the carpet and slammed head first into the stage at the ACC media centre where the Leafs were planning to announce their new acquisition. Lindros could be seen lying on the floor in a semiconscious state. Members of the media were seen running to help the often injured player. (There were no medical staff since the Leafs fired them all earlier in the year). Paramedics eventually arrived on the scene and carried Lindros off on a stretcher. "We knew he was a risk but this is ridiculous." GM John Ferguson was quoted as saying. Carl Lindros, the player's father and agent, quickly blamed Bobby Clarke for this latest debacle. "It is quite apparent to everyone covering this story, that Bobby Clarke is responsible for this latest incident." At Mount Sinai hospital, where Lindros was taken, Dr Joseph Greenberg confirmed that Lindros indeed had sufferred another concussion. "It's very bad. It's probably one of the worst of his career." Dick Peddie, President and CEO of MLSE Entertainment, was visibly upset and was overheard telling Ferguson that we are now "in big trouble. We have now wasted 1.55 million and the medical costs could be just as much." It is unknown when Lindros will be able to play again.
