Big E and his glass (concussion prone) brain, wont even make it past the pre-season, you guys are forgetting about 7 exhibition games where this guy will get his bell rung and wont even make it back to the bench, let's face it. the leafs will never win the cup, and people gotta stop drinking the harold ballard kool-aid.

I am not a Leafs fan by any means (go pens) :p . But i think for a 1 year $1.5 mill contract Lindros is worth the risk. Even if he does get K.O.'d early or late, who knows he might even play the entire season, still worth the low risk contract IMHO, he has more incentive to play with his heads up now that his contract has a bigger bonus stucture and less guaranteed $'s.
I could not have said it better. It is a reasonably good move with calculated risk. Lindros is not thr asnwer to the Leaves, but it not a bad move, at least.

We feel sorry for people when we hear they bought a late-model used car only to find out later that it had been wrecked, written-off and recycled by a chop-shop.

Well, the Leafs are like a guy who saw the car get rammed at a railway crossing, watched it get glued together and repainted at the chop-shop, and still went out & bought it!

Under the old CBA, this would not be a big gamble for a rich team - if he turns out to be a liability, they could go out and add someone else. But now, if the Leafs have little cap room to work with and Lindros is out / hurt / throwing tantrums / demanding a trade or whatever new way he invents to hurt his team.... they're stuck!

After his last concussion in NY, around Dec.8 2003 I believe, he went nearly 3 weeks without a point and didn't score his next goal until well after the Olympics (where he looked absentminded for the most part).

I think getting Lindros was a good deal for the price the Leafs played. There's little downside; even if he gets hurt, his salary isn't going to ruin the Leafs.
