One thing they ALMOST touch on is really the central issue. The demise of ethics. We have now degenerated into a society where "getting away with it" = "doing it right and success. When you have such a society, where winning at any cost is the only thing. You end up with failed states like we see in Africa. It's like a revolution, law enforcement and regulation become impossible and disorder rules...
