Very nice. I see a lot of the GTR in the shape. Sort of pricey though... For $400k, you could buy:

3 Porsche 911 GT3 Rs's
2 Ferrari F430 F1 Coupes
2 Audi R8's and an S4 for those quick runs to the market
A BMW M3, M5, M6, & an X6
75% of a Mercedes Benz SLR
40% of a Pagani Zonda C9

Rarified air indeed.....

Anyone know where the song is from?
Or is it made for that commercial.

Thanks.

I saw this on Top Gear and they said the same thing: you could get a LOT more car for the money plus you get the pinache of the exotic. They also said: no matter how fast or how good a performer it is it is still a $400,000.00 lexus, NOT a ferrari, Lambo, etc etc.

Lexus built the car as a step up in their evolution. They did not make the car to please the public. They do not make money producing these super cars. If you are waiting for Lexus to produce a Ferrari or a Porsche you will be waiting a long time. Lexus/Toyota is an entity in itself and their main client base is the middle class Mr. Average. The goal of producing these super cars is to test their engineering skills and demonstrate to the public that they are capable of producing high quality, desirable, vehicles. There will be a trickle down effect from these vehicles in future models in Lexus/Toyota models.

I hate to say it but Mr Average won't be spending $400K on a hypercar. To engineer a vehicle of this type are astronomical, to say they will sell them "just to prove a point" must mean they have millions to burn. I don't know of ANY company that would spend money with no ROI in site.

Lexus in and of itself is the "premier" line of toyota, like infinitiy, acura etc so having to prove they can engineer a better product isn't necessary, as that's what they are doing already. This reminds me of the Honda NSX: it was a great car, but no matter what, it's still a honda and if you're going to spend the money on a hypercar, there are much better ones to be had.

Didn't get my attention...didn't look any different to what you could get for $70-80 k and certainly didn't have any 'wow' factor for me (compared to other exotics in the +$200k range).

Even a Lotus at around $75k US looks more impressive to me! and certainly rarer to see on the road

Wonder if they'd take my firstborn as a down payment? :D

I'd give them an an arm and a leg but I'd need those to drive the damn thing.

Honestly though if I had a choice of a supercar I'd either pick the Ferrari Enzo (F60) or the "old" McLaren F1. There hasn't been anything, in my opinion that would even come close to either of these.

Wont sell....

we've seen this before even at lower price levels...

- Re done Supra of the mid 90s...didnt sell
- NSX...never sold albeit a wonderful car that was way ahead of its time when it first came out; why they stuck with it for so long is beyond me
- GT-R.... its not selling and it wont start anytime soon
- BMW Z8

All of these cars are fantastic sports cars...none were cheap and none sold

it didnt work then and it wont work now. Lexus doesnt understand why someone would pay a premium on a car...its not because its a competent sports car, thats for sure....and as Tboy said... Lexus doesnt have to flex its muscles to prove anything so I really dont get what the purpose is

I cant beleive top level high paid execs thinks this is a good idea.

ummmm read a little more carefully, those aren;t orders, those are people registered as formally interested in purchasing......BIG difference. That's like me signing up for the facebook Fan of Devo page, I'm not buying devo, or joining the band.......

another example: I'm interested in buying a sportster, so does harley count that as an order? NOT

uhh...500 units aint "sellin"...sorry.....how many billion people are there in the world?...sure a FEW may buy
Please... the market for $400,000 cars is a very small percentage of the "billions of people in the world".

How many Ferarris or Lamborghini's or Austin Martins are sold each year?

Definately a niche market. In 2009, Ferrari sold 6,250 vehicles worldwide.
