Went to Devil's Elbow on Sunday for the start of my 2005/06 ski season. Seeing that it was only December 11th, the conditions were fairly good. Devil's Elbow is just north of 7A, S/E of Peterborough. Their vertical is around 350' and they have a north face. The lift lines (especially at this time of the year) are better than you find around the GTA, Barrie and Collingwood. They are offering a reduced rate.
I checked out Lakeridge, they had 4 runs open and no reduced rate

If you haven't skiied or snowboarded, give it a try. Dress warmly, try a few lessens and look for deals on tickets. I've heard Skyloft has a seasons mid-week pass (from 9:00am until 10:00pm) for $175 for adults and $100 (GST included) for the kids.

Here is a link to the Ontario Snow Resorts Association:

You can click alpine or cross country. I'll have to get a pair of those tight lycra ski pants for Kylie

Between a rock and a hard place
Can't ski. I once went to the ski shop and asked, "how much for those skis?" Then my leg spontaenously broke.

Skiiing can be expensive. I got a midweek pass at a resort in the GTA. If I get out even 15 times, the cost per visit will be less than $7.00 a visit. Some of the resorts are charging over $50 a friggen day. I had skis that lasted me over 10 years. Upgraded to shaped skis about a month ago (and after 15 years a new pair of ski boots). The newer skis/boots are so much easier, all you have to do is think about turning and you start turning.

Check out Play it again Sports. Occasionally, you can get a good deal on used skis/bindings. Boots (IMHO) should be bought new.

Yea, I know, 10 minutes in the line and then the chair ride all for a 35 second trip down. If you hit the resorts early (or late) and avoid the lift lines, it can still give you a good workout and get you ready for Quebec, or Vermont, New Hampshire or Maine........or out west if you're so inclined.

Many resorts are into their second week!!
