Anyone that doesn't want a safe injection site in their community is a bigot. There, I said it.

Hateful people refuse to understand the merit of mental health initiatives like these.

Availability of hardcore drugs directly to junkies allows a community to flourish by bringing people from all walks of life together.

Run that through the Trudeau filter and it begins to make sense..... Enjoy having your car stolen and a B&E of your home. And being mugged or stabbed." Stickin` needles in your arm, ooohhh... that smell."

Great idea in theory, bad in practice.

How many more mothers do you want to be hit by a stray bullet while walking their kids?

The jump to open the site fell short once they put it within 300m of 5 schools.

Should have been a mobile unit.

The idea was just as awful in theory.
You mean like sanctuary cities? Funny how the two separate issues, are so much alike.
It’s not a problem, until it is.

Not really sure what the solution is. I’m inclined to go hard after the disease ( gangs, dealers) and not the symptoms. Unfortunately that doesn’t fly with too many either.

This was featured in the news last night. Long story short.

Then: The neighbourhood thought a "safe" injection site was a great idea.
Now: The neighbourhood thinks it is a shit show. What did they expect? Welcome to reality.

Do you think it will bring in more drug addicts to the neighbourhood or just keep a few out of the hospitals with crap they caught from dirty needles and overdosing?

the problem with drug addiction is that the treatment varies from one addict to another....will it bring in more addicts to the neighborhood...that is a huge possibility....drugs is a very insatiable addiction...a few doses might settle a fix but a drug addict will always chase another high after another...if they get a shot...they could go home but you know they'll be back before it's due...begging for another and another...

What controlled substances are associated with “safe consumption sites” ? Is it just government issued Dilaudid (dillies”) hydromorphone amd methadone ? Are these sites a sort of “opium den” with government medical staff providing support against overdosing ?
What about other drugs like cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamines or mushroom, will there be “ safer consumption sites” for them too?

The disease is addiction

The disease is addiction
That’s one way to look at it.
What happens when having spent millions curing say 25% of that addiction. The gangs and dealers sell to 30% more?

Each year, 7,000 people are killed by Fentanyl alone. Never mind other associated cost. Or narcotics. How many are killed by firearms each year?

I would like to see death by firing squad for all dealers of controlled substances (the government may want rethink the safe consumption clinics concept)

It doesn’t matter who the dealer is, from street level right up to the top of the food chain.

There was a guy walking his dog in Schomberg that was mistakenly targeted by a notorious international street gang M13 which is involved in the fentanyl and cocaine trade globally. They hit the wrong guy in a failed drive by .
This indicates that the intended target might be a resident of staid and quiet Schomberg who might be involved in drug trafficking , perhaps in the GTA and was of a person of interest enough for M13 to pay a visit to Schomberg

Okay, drug users are bad.

We'll just wish them all away and there won't be a problem any more.

Whether they have a safe injection site or not, they'll still be there, use, do crime, have dealers and all the other bad stuff. Until you guys come with shotguns and kill all the addicts, the addicts are still going to be there.

So they may as well have a safe injection site.
