Guitar legend Les Paul dies at age 94

(AP) – 10 minutes ago

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. Les Paul, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had a string of hits, many with wife Mary Ford, died on Thursday. He was 94.

According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.

As an inventor, Paul helped bring about the rise of rock 'n' roll and multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the "tracks" in the finished recording.

-That's sad. He'll truly be missed. :(

At least from what I've learned about him over the years, he lived a really full, rich life...and a long one, to boot. Never saw him without a smile on his face. Always thought that was the coolest thing about him.

What a pioneer, if not THE pioneer of modern music.

Godspeed, Les...

Iommi SG Signature....

Makes no difference which guitar you prefer. I am a Dean fan!! Without Les none of them exist today!

Better stolen then broken...the reason no one touches any of my guitars now!!

You should be ashamed loaning out a pull like that lol jk.

Why is it when people see guitars they automatically have to pick them up even though they don't play? It was my first Razorback too! It was 2yrs ago and I'm still pissed about it.

Every time I think of Les Paul's I think of this.....not sure why?

abso-fucking -lutely "Thumbs Up"
but this i identify alot with Les Paul..Pete with the triple humbuck setup...him sliding across the floor on his knees (think that was snip from a Q107 commerical)... up striking the strings in power chords... a possessed inspiration of playing on his part.
Wont Get Fooled Again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rp6-wG5LLqE&feature=related
scroll to7.54 for the knee slide by Pete

Saw RR with Ozzy on the first tour at Maple Leaf Garden in 1981 .Oddly enough not many people knew the name Randy Rhoads at the time and the legend he would become.
yup...Rhodes and Napoleon alike were small fuckers in stature (like myself :p ... 5 foot 3 = fuck all) but they persevered

Les was a true genius. There was a great special on HBO a few years back that is worth looking for.

RIP Les. Maybe you'll find out 'How High The Moon'.

Coolio Hadrian
......my other Les Paul recall..is John Marr of the Smiths giving a Les Paul to Noel of Oasis as it could survive a bar fight / clubing and you could still use the Guitar!...think last year... Noel got pushed from behind at Virgin Fest...the Guitar was a "les" of a Gib Archtop!?
I want to Carve my own Archtop..i've been hording the woods
