My theory is this is done because porn is popular and acceptable with a lot of the population, but highly frowned on by a vocal minority. Stars want to raise their image by doing porn, but they don't want to admit to doing porn, so they "leak" a tape and then pretend to get mad.

I think stars are actually real ppl, with real feelings, who actually fall in love with, and trust ppl. Then, something happens, the love goes away, and ppl show their true colors and fuk them over the best way the know how!!!!

Would I go see her movie just because I saw a Megan Fox sex tape? No, I think it actually ruins it because 99% of the time sex tapes are a disappointment. They are done with crappy cams and you see many of the flaws. It takes away from the mystique.
I would much rather pay to see a movie where Megan Fox is supposedly almost nude and sexy.

Celebrities are, for the most part very narcissistic (especially the type that would do a "sex tape"), and need to have the focus on them whenever and as much as possible. Ya, they'll jump up and down and throw a hissy fit & threaten lawsuits if and when it is "leaked", but they secretly LOVE and even THRIVE on the attention.

)actually there is alot of amateur sex tapes that circulate the net , they might not get as much coverage as celebs but they are out there on sites like pornhost,redtube,pornhub.
the difference is media advertises celebs sex tapes , avg john doe does not get national headlines when he uploads his home stuff.
