Leafs lose 5-1 tonight to there rivals down the QEW. Belfour looked very ordinary tonight. And the defense had some serious holes in it. Can someone please tell me why they are benching Stajan? Talk about killing a guy's confidence.

Leafs hate playing Buffalo. Their bogey team.

Stajan is only down in St. Johns until the trade deadline. He will be back Tuesday.

Leafs also need Marchment in the lineup. (Not just cause Cherry said so).

Leafs D should be:

Leetch-Marchment
McCabe-Kaberle
Klee-[Sean Hill]

Hard to find a better 6 top to bottom. (Waiting for Goober to pounce).

Stajan wasn't benched, he was sent down. They had to make roster room for Nathan Perrot (I think), and he was the only guy they could send down without having the player clear waivers. he'll be back when the roster opens up after the trade deadline
Sending him down. benching him . What's the diff. The kid was on a roll and now he is not playing on the big team. I say play him and bench Parrot/Domi/Renberg/Berg or rotate between sitting Roberts/Niewy/Reichel (save them for the playoff run).

BTW I went to the SJML web site and see no mention of Stajan.

I don't see what's wrong with Pilar's play. He seems alright.

Oh THERE'S pansey, sheesh I was wondering when he'd pop out of the wood work again......oh that's right, he loves bashing our leafs so the minute they lose a game, he's back!

Living in a dream world are we?

Did you see Karberle actually play lastnight? I could put my Golden Retriever on skates and he could play better than him!

Belfour was due a bad game. It didn't help that the rest of the team left their brains in the locker room mind you.

Leaf nightmare:

Meeting the Sabres in Round One and being eliminated, again.

For the fourth-straight time this year the Leafs failed to pick up a win against the Sabres.

Toronto has historically had trouble with Buffalo - all time record - 46-70-18.

Will the Leafs get buffaloed again ?? Stay tuned !!

Eddie the Eagle out again with back problems ? The Leafs have hired a practise caddy. Meanwhile the trading deadline looms. Tick ... tick ... tick. And will the Leafs get what they deserately need - a defensive defenseman ?

Meanwhile in the center of the universe rumour has it the Sens are looking to trade for either Brendan Witt, Sean Hill or Alexei Zhitnik.

right now.....a very unlikely proposition....the Sabres didn't help themselves last night......and in a seven game series the Leafs would solve the Sabres. No doubt.

Leafs

The acquisition of Leetch makes Kaberle effectively redundant. Don't get me wrong, Leetch is a great player and a good pickup in short term but he is not the physical player the Leafs need on the back end. Kaberle is afraid of his shadow. I can't belief how easy a ride he gets from the Toronto media and the Leaf nation. The give away Saturday against Buffalo is not unusual against teams that forecheck hard. The idea of McCabe being the big physical guy was lost by the thrashing he took from Chara and Joe Thornton. Besides you don't want a top pairing d-man sitting for fighting. Klle is a solid #4 or 5 D-man. Berehowsky has proven his worth. How many think that is a great trade now? I don't see any hands. Berg is a bonehead who makes too many mistakes. Pilar, I like as a depth guy. Finally, Marchment. Despite Cherry's rant, the guy cannot play regularly aginst good teams that can skate. You can count the big hits he's had this season on one hand. His absolutely stupid penalties make him a serious liability come playoffs. Getting Leetch was a good start, but they need at least one more. Hill DeVries Carney are still there.
But, it won't matter if they don't get Eddie some help. Can you honestly expect him to play another 22-25 high pressure, intense games if they go to the final without needing some rest? Giving away a single game in any series, could eb the difference between winning a losing.
This is like being pregnant. The Leafs have made a committment to winning now. They've traded big chucks of the future to put this team on the ice. It is too late to go back and change that. So, in my opinion if it takes Kaberle, Coliacgivo and others to acquire the remaining pieces to the puzzle, they should go for it. The chance comes around only so often and, in this case the window may well close this season.

They said on the hot stove that Mcphee said there was a team in the east pursuing Kolzig, Leafs?
