I've made a reservation at the Germaine for my trip in Sept. Does anyone know if this place is SP tolerant or do they stand at the door like Holy Gestapo deciding who does or does not pass?

The location's great if your like me and enjoy doing the cheesy tourist stuff.

I stay at Le Germain every time I am in town, first of all it is a great hotel and the location is awesome for even the non-cheesy stuff such as King street dinning and clubs.
You should know that their restaurant and bar is not open yet-but you can ask for signing privelages at affialiated restaurants Zoom and Rain(directly across the street) They serve breakfeast on the mezzanine and there are fully stocked mini bars in every room.
As far as SP friendly, its a bit of a tough call, they do not have a door man standing at the doors, but the reception directly faces the glass front doors and they can see everyone who comes and goes..they do make a point of knowing all their guests by name. There are no side doors, and the elevators are direclty to the right of the front desk...the whole hotel is based on an open concept including the lobby so it would be difficult and not reccomended for her to try and sneak in on her own.
My sugestion would be to meet your "friend" elsewhere and return to the hotel with her on your arm as if returning from a date and proceed to the hotel and to your room...
good luck

Thanks for the quick reply.

If my "friend" doesn't mind being noticed, and if the front desk staff doesn't have any problems with me receiving guests at strange hours, then I don't have any concerns.

Yes, of course the are plenty of non-cheesy things to do in the area but I like going to a Jays game and buying a big, foam-rubber baseball glove and then going to the Hockey HOF and coming back wearing the loudest, gaudiest souvenir t-shirt I can find.

I've seen an SP at that Hotel.....No problems

I know I'm a local but I had to see the Toronto location. I stayed at that Hotel a few years back in Mtl and I loved it! Wicked design.

I stayed at the Montreal Germain a couple of years back and if the Toronto property is even half as nice then I'm sure I'll love it.

BTW, no problems entertaining guests at the Montreal Germain...even two at a time.

Very nice hotel. The boutique hotel concept rocks compared to your traditional hotel room.
I agree, when travelling why not stay in style, and good news there are a few more on the way as well.
