LCD vs. Plasma what is the difference?

When it comes to flat TVs, what is the difference between LCDs and Plasma TVs? One thing that I have noticed is that Plasma TVS are usually large screen. Someone mentioned earlier in another thread that rear projection TVs have significant maintenence problems after 5 years. Are Plasma TVs better then?

Thanks, this makes me feel better. I bought a LCD 18" TV from Gateway. Main reason was that it can connect to my notebook and I can use it as a TV and Computer Monitor. I was considering Plasma as a replacement for my CRT TV.

You have to have good control of the room lighting for a projection tv. To much ambient light kills the picture. Other than that I agree, projection is the best bang for you buck.
