So apparently the LCBO isnt happy with Doug Ford's idea of allowing corner stores to sell beer and wine.
So now they might go on strike.
If I were Ford I'd allow corner stores to sell hard liquor too, that way we can get rid of LCBO and their monopoly forever

DoFo will spend $1 billion to break contracts so beer can be sold in corner stores.
Then he had to let the Beer store sell junk food so it can compete.

This will cost Ontario LCBO revenue and lose good paying union jobs, all because this is the only thing he can sell to Ontario for the election.

The LCBO gives over a billion in profit to the people every year while also paying well.
Why do you want the people to have to pay more taxes to cover that instead?

There may have been a public policy reason for distributing alcohol through the government at one time (egs. ensuring that it isn't sold to minors, eliminating organized crime from the supply chain). Those reasons are now gone. Now, all it ensures are prices that are higher than they should be. Time to close the LCBO stores. Maybe this strike will light a fire under the provincial government. Government should be out of EVERY business that can be provided by the private sector.

LCBO has better prices than Alberta most times.
Its the largest purchaser in the world and can get better deals.
