Spend less on your mobile phone service so that you can afford to spend more on the hobby.

Mobilicity appears to be trying to create some buzz in the market and have developed a great set of rate plans - but the promo ends on November 7th!

Unlimited North American Calling
Unlimited GLobal Texting
Unlimited Wireless Data
No SAF!

I switched from Wind a week ago and find the service to be pretty good and am loving finally having wireless data!

Here are details:

The $35 plan is one that you will be happy you got - even in five years!
Think of it this way - if you are a data user you will easily save $50 compared to what you will pay one of the Big Three (Bell/Rogers/Telus). So that means TWICE per year you can have some extra Hobby Fun with the money you save!

In Toronto and Mississauga - the areas that I am in for 90% of the time the reception is actually quite good. Not a single dropped call. I was with WIND for months but they started to have a horrible network problem and so when this deal came up I decided to switch.

For Data - I am getting between 1.0 and 1.3 mbps on average when my BB9700 is tethered to my laptop via bluetooth.

no offence, but you sound like a sales rep lol.
Not a sales rep - just wanted to provide a useful post.

Numbers look good. And thanks for the info on reception.

Is that a monthly plan contract , or you have to get tied up for at least a year ?

Is this a 3G with a sim card (GSM style)? If so, are they the same frequencies as Rogers? I've got a nexus one and would be interested in switching.

With Mobilicity and Wind there is no contract - just month to month.

Wind and Mobilicity both use the new AWS 1700 spectrum.
Unlocked phones are interchangeable between Wind and Mobilicity.
The phones do use SIMs.

A Rogers Nexus One will not work on Mobilicity or Wind.
The phone do have GSM capability so that you can roam on Rogers when you are not in the home coverage zone.

In the US T-Mobile uses the same technology so unlocked T-mobile phones will work on Mobilicity

In Canada - Shaw Wireless out west and Videotron in Quebec are also using the same technology.

Once again - not a shill - just someone that hates Rogers/Bell/Telus and am happy with my new service.

Thanks zoooter.. that really sucks.. I was all ready to sign up, but I can't part with my nexus.. I would have even considered buying one of their nexus ones, but they are sold out..

Does anyone know which network they use (Bell, Rogers) or are they on their own? What about coverage in the rest of Canada?

Yes, what about the email refferal, anyone know about that.
Also, is the North American calling from a home zone only, or does it include roaming.

This promo was started as a referral program which was to end on Oct 15 but was extended to Nov 7 to anyone that walks into the store. No need for a referral.

North American calling is from the Mobilicity zone. WHen roaming then other charges apply.

Mobilicity uses their own network in the home zone and Rogers when roaming across Canada - where you will pay 20c per minute.

For more details go here - http://mobilicity.ca/plans/
You are getting the $65 plan (plus $10 BIS service if you get a Blackberry) for $35

My opinion is that 95% of people spend 95% of their time in the home zone so roaming might not occur much - but if you do make calls from outside the home zone you are paying only 20c/minute while with Bell/Telus you pay 35c/minute.

Sounds like a good local phone only- within the city. Does it work elsewhere in the GTA.
I think with wind it works in different cities across the country while this one only works in the city of Toronto?

Mobilicity is in GTA = Torono, Scarborough, Markham, Mississauga, Brampton.
They will soon be opening in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Wind had a head start but they had/have problems with their swiss cheese network.

Remember that these guys are just starting up and getting in on the ground floor with this plan will be a great benefit as the network develops further.

Yes I might be a bit of an evangelist for Mobilicity but I like the service. I like the underdog and I hate Rogers/Bell/Telus after being screwed by them for so many years.

Does PublicMobile still have their $40 Unlimited talk and text Plan? That seems like a better offer since it comes with:

-Unlimited local calling
-Unlimited Canadian and international text
-Voice mail and Call display
-Call forwarding
-3-way calling

*And they'll switch unlimited text to unlimited Can long distance if that's what you prefer.

It costs $3 more to pay for your bill monthly CASH in store. (Making the plan $43 per mth) I think those of you that want to have a line that's not under your real name would like to know that.

Hey OP your deal is only for calling other mobilicity numbers since the site says for all the plans: Mobilicity to Mobilicity Talk.

I'll pass.

No, it is unlimited calling to ANYONE anywhere in North America.
If you notice on the plans page it says:

- Mobilicity to Mobilicity Talk
- Local Calling
- Province-Wide Calling
- Canadian Long Distance
- U.S. Long Distance
- Global Text

This is superior to Public Mobile because you also get unlimited data in case you want to tether your cellphone to laptop and do websurfing when outside of wifi hotspots. Public Mobile phones are not compatible with any other network.

I know someone who switched over to Mobilicity due to their plan for Unlimited Calls to Pakistan.

Well they cancelled that plan. So his switch was a waste.

Who is to tell they will honor this rate ?

Now don't get me wrong, I am ALL for Unlimited, I hate the big 3. But these little new companies are in for the money too.

Just be careful people, do your own risk calculations, anything can and does happen in Canadian Wireless market.
