Very cool swimmng pool!

I started looking into a vist there but checked out internationalsexguide.info and found Chile to be a lousy place for p4p and generally sexually repressed.

Oh well, there is always the ocean in Argentina!
LOL sheesh, can't you just go somewhere to relax and lay in the sun?

Does it ALWAYS have to be about sex?

(f me, who am I kidding? lol)

In one of the pix, it looks like there's a SAILBOAT in the pool! (Could just be a windsurfer, though). Still pretty cool!

I feel sorry for the people with the "little" pool in the building behind.

REally though, how bad must the sea water be if you need to be sailing in a pool 100 m from the beach.

On the note of swimming pools, I am looking at putting one in this year, can anyone suggest someone who can put either a inground fiberglass pool or
a concrete one for a good price. Also what is the best as far as maintenace costs etc.
thanks

Hey Tight, check with your RE agent: pools are a no win situation. You'll never get your money back for one and I have also heard they are a liability when it comes to sell your property.

I'd say sit down and make sure you really want one. They are expensive to put in, very high maintenance, and require all kinds of code compliance (re: fences, gates, etc to prevent kids from falling in and drowning).

I have heard that the cheapest is one where they simply dig a square (or rectangular or kidney) shaped hole in the ground, square up the sides, line the hole with foam, install a liner, and the plumping. It was explained to me that the weight of the water keeps the sides from caving in.

Then you have to think about heating it. In the hot tub thread I think someone said it costs about $80.00 per month to heat. Can you imagine what it would cost to heat a pool? Let's see: a hot tub is what, 100 gallons? So if a pool is 1000 gallons you can figure 10 x the water = 10 x the heating so $800.00 a month. Then you have the pumps to run etc, and with the rising cost of electricity, and a surcharge for high consumption...man, you better like swimming!!!

1,000 gallons is 4,000 liters, which would occupy a space that was 1m x 1m x 4m = a big hot tub. So a pool would be more like 5 x 10 x 2 = 100,000 liters = 25,000 gallons = $20,000 per month to heat. So something is not right.

Stay away from inground fiberglass. For Concrete only one game in town Solda Pools - best product - no bullshit, no over inflated price - down to earth guys. But save yourself a bundle - get a steel wall, vinyl liner pool - and no matter what you get make sure you get salt water generator.

Figure $400 per month to heat a 16x32 pool average depth 7.5 feet to 85 degrees.

You know, those of you who dont own or use pools should keep their comments to themselves.
What, now Terb has a rule that you are not supposed to make postings in the lounge about things you are not an expert on? Since when? If that were the case, about 90% of the postings would disappear, and some people would have a lot fewer posts than they do now. Someone with a lot of time on their hands could go searching, and find posts by people who do not know what they are talking about, and post them as examples. But I would not do that.

C Dick,

If you don't know, dont give out facts that you think are correct give out information that you know is correct.
What facts did I give out that were incorrect? I suggested that the prior posters estimate of the volume of a pool was way off, that a pool would be more like 25,000 gallons? Is this not correct? Then I suggested that by his reasoning, it would cost $20,000 per month to heat, which obviously it does not, and therefore that his heat calculations were not correct.

What part of my posting was in any way inaccurate or misleading? Or did you think that I was saying that I really thought it costs $20,000 per month to heat a pool?

Read the post that you were replying to originally.

That is the portion of the post that I was replying to. And my post said that a pool would not be 1,000 gallons, and that by his reasoning a pool would actually cost $20,000 per month to heat, and that therefore his reasoning was incorrect.

So again, where is my post inaccurate? This argument is stupid, but you chose to make it an issue, so tell me where my post is inaccurate.

geez.. just joint a gym with a pool. 50-60/month buys you an entire gym to get fit in and a pool yet saves you the hassle, upfront costs and potential liability/danger (with regards to the kids).

Pass all those costs on to the other man

The only one making it an issue is you C Dick. Read your first post in this thread, that you replied to. It's that person that I'm talking about.
You called me out, by name, saying my post was inaccurate. That is you making an issue, but not me. But it does not matter, lets move on.
