The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) is bringing charges against legendary touring cyclist Lance Armstrong, according to multiple sources.

The Washington Post reported that Armstrong could be stripped of his seven Tour de France titles, according to a letter sent to Armstrong and several others Tuesday.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles concluded a two-year investigation into doping allegations in February 2012.

I get around.
Probably explains his testicular cancer as well.
Do you think that being accused of doping can cause cancer?!

Lance Armstrong said:
I have been notified that USADA, an organization largely funded by taxpayer dollars but governed only by self-written rules, intends to again dredge up discredited allegations dating back more than 16 years to prevent me from competing as a triathlete and try and strip me of the seven Tour de France victories I earned. These are the very same charges and the same witnesses that the Justice Department chose not to pursue after a two-year investigation. These charges are baseless, motivated by spite and advanced through testimony bought and paid for by promises of anonymity and immunity. Although USADA alleges a wide-ranging conspiracy extended over more than 16 years, I am the only athlete it has chosen to charge. USADA’s malice, its methods, its star-chamber practices, and its decision to punish first and adjudicate later all are at odds with our ideals of fairness and fair play.

I have never doped, and, unlike many of my accusers, I have competed as an endurance athlete for 25 years with no spike in performance, passed more than 500 drug tests and never failed one. That USADA ignores this fundamental distinction and charges me instead of the admitted dopers says far more about USADA, its lack of fairness and this vendetta than it does about my guilt or innocence.

His team mate reported seeing him use drugs and that he admitted being a user in the past. Lance denies this but its hard to believe him when the french tested his sample later on and found it to be positive for drugs.

As a semi-fan of cycling, a positive French test (on Armstrong) is about as convincing as an ex-wife saying you owe her money.

Tons of doping in the cycling world. Don't get why Lance seems to get all the heat.

That's pretty obvious, because he's at the top of the world in cycling. Everyone is always trying to knock off number one from his pedestal. Nobody cares about the other losers if their doping, it's the best we go after.

I just don't know what to think given how much testing he's been subject to. The whole exercise does have a bit of an aura of a witch hunt to me.

Ouch, stripping him of all those titles must feel like a swift kick to his nut.

All we can do is wait and see, if there is proof that he broke the rules, then I have no problem of stripping him of the medals, but it has to be proven.

He's an idiot. I'll bet Sheryl Crow feels like an idiot as well considering she let him bang her only because of the hero status he was given by the press/media while he cheated and bragged to the world at the same time that hard work and hard work alone was behind his success.

Fuck him.

Ed, he's innocent until proven guilty. I don't follow this closely but clearly nobody has proven his guilt in 25 years.

Your thread title is misleading

It's never said that he's convicted of the doping charges, or that he will have his victories stripped. Just that they are bringing charges against him, and he might have his titles stripped. Innocent until proven dirty

Personally, I have no doubt he doped, just like 98% of the cycling world. I think he's a sanctimous prick, but I might be wrong. I also think the USADA is a cesspool of bureaucracy, lapses in testing and is a terribly-run agency, and they will have major difficulty proving this

Change the thread title Yoga, it's outright false the way it is

I think you pretty much nailed it. Lance has tested positive before, but it was excused. He was also under the care of the best Dr. in the world if you are going to dope. The book Lance Armstrong's War makes it pretty clear what went on.

If you are doped to the gills and still lose, the universe has already Nelson Mundz "Ha Ha" you enough. After all, if you don't place in the top three you spent all that money and health and got nothing for it.

I bet he would give his left nut to get out of those charges.
