They change up the menu every now and then but the fresh fish selection is always good. They make a great Cajun Catfish ,not too spicy and a nice portion with risotto side. Also some good appetizers ,in addition to the oysters ,fresh and Rockerfella. All in all good food prepared in an open stle kitchen. For not as adventerous I would suggest the Salmon ,I believe it is done with a maple style flavouring ,haven't been for about 6 months.
Hope this helps

I've heard a lot about King Crab Oyster Bar and King Street Trio...

Since Mrs. CG has recently discovered she really enjoys seafood... I figured it was about time we checked it out... Any suggestions from the board from those of you who have been?

Lemme know...
IMHO, King St Trio is the best eatery in K/W. Especially Saturday evening, they have a jazz pianist playing.

Unless the Trio moved elsewhere, the location on University & Weber is in the process of being torn down for a Crabby Joe's

King Street Trio has indeed moved elsewhere. A new, more intimate location is supposed to open in Uptown Waterloo this spring.

about there
Loved the food! Loved the service! Didn't like the $$$$$. Very good food but a bit pricey. It is a great treat however. Around $100.00 for Supper for two. This refers to King Crab. I've never been to Trio.

Thanks everyone! Went to the King Crap Oyster Bar last night... Mrs. CG and I both LOVED it. We shared the crab cakes the calamari and oysters Rockefeller as appetizers, I had the tenderloin and crab, Mrs. CG had the crab platter. The service is top notch! Brian, the owner, made a point to make sure everything was perfect. The patio looks very inviting as well... we will definitely be making this a frequent destination on our "date night" rotation.

The "Trio" is indeed closed. I spoke with Brian last night about it, and he explained that the lease was up at the previous location and is in process of building the new restaurant. He went on to say that he was having permit issues (that IS a real problem here in K-W for some reason- happened with our home when it was built in Cambridge 9 yrs ago, and hasn't improved...) anyway, he said the opening of the new location is delayed to August now. He also mentioned the Jazz feature on Saturday nights Cutterbuck... definitely something we will have to check out.

We didn't mind the price at all... with diner drinks and tip it came to $170... well within range of our normal meal at a decent restaurant. We have spent more and got less, so no problem at all here.
