Now with a letter from three members of the opposition, Harpo has still said he will do nothing on this file. The man is clearly clueless. Can he not sense that public opinion is shifting? What is going to happen when Obama closes Gitmo? Harpo really does not show responsibility as a leader. he has pretty much said he will leave it to the American. Last time Ottawa did that, we had to write Maher Arar a cheque for over 10 million. I suspect that Khadr will be a millionaire when it is all said and done....thanks Harpo.

Instead I believe he should be put in front of a firing squad. No on second thought, that is far too honourable he should be hanged.

I realize a highly unpopular opinion on TERB.

How about we have a fair trial first, then see what happens.

So Messrs Ignatieff, Duceppe and Layton feel that there significant ambiguity as to what role Khadr played in fighting as a illegal combatant in Afghanistan and killing U.S. soldiers in their words whether he is guilty of any criminal misconduct.

And then the statement that Mr. Khadr was taken from Canada as a child. Oh my goodness he must have been kidnaped by evil agents of the U.S. Military Industrial Complex, it couldn’t possibly be that he left because he complete “bought into” the B.S. fed to him by his parents!

Sorry Don I'm referring to young terrorist Khadr

So he was young, he could have thrown himself on the first police office he saw along the way. Two sets of magic words: "I'm being forced against my will" and/or "I request Political Asylum".

I predicted axactly this months ago here on Terb. The willful abandonment of
a canadian citizen (Canada is the only western country that has not requested
it's citizens from Quantanamo), will cost the canadian taxpayers dearly.

What the Honoured members think or feel is irrelevant. ALL of the facts should come out in a fair trial. IMHO a military tribunal would not allow that to happen.

I respect your opinion and judgment on many topics. In this statement however, I think your feelings have clouded that judgement. Perhaps he did "buy in" to the BS or perhaps he was a 14 year old boy doing as he was told. And perhaps we will never know.

Irt is unpopular for a reason, namely that it is idiotic and childish.

I believe they said return him to Canada. US please send us the evidence and we will try him in a criminal court (not a made up court).

He was taken as child. by his parents. he was put in a situation by his father. who knows what he did or didn't do. there seems, based on media stories, to be some ambiguity. though there is no ambiguity around the fact that he was 15 then (a child) and has been held in prison without trial for seven years.

Then I retract. If you are attacked with deadly force you have the right to defend with deadly force. Its black letter law.
But if I'm robbing a bank, I don't have the right to defend myself when attacked with deadly force. Khadr wasn't a soldier in a lawful army, I don't believe he has a leg to stand on.

And what guarantees are going to be given to the U.S. that Canada isn’t going to just "let him go?" The little terrorist killed U.S. troops, he was not a soldier in the Afghan Army, he doesn’t have the defence of I was defending or serving my country. So what he was 15 he went to Afghanistan voluntarly, he wasn't kidnaped.
