Kevin Durant has asked for a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. The greed of these NBA players is one of the reasons I dont watch NBA games anymore. Cant stand those guys.

Background: Kevin Durant tore his Achilles during game 5 of the NBA Championship against Toronto in 2019. He went to Brooklyn on a sign and trade. He was paid his $30 million salary in full during 2019-2020 season without playing a single game.
He signed a 4-year $198 million extension in 2021 which just kicked in. Brooklyn did nothing in the two years he was healthy, even though at one point they had prolific scorers Durant, Irving and Harden on the roster.

So the way to pay back the Nets for their support is to ask for a trade. Unbelievable. Truly.

Don't see it as greed, at least any more than the greed of the owners. Why should some old rich people make money while the people creating the product don't.

But KD (and Kyrie) are fragile individuals but when they're on, they're two of the top players in the league. That said, it's no surprise the Nets blew up (especially when Simmons joined the circus). Only question is how badly the Nets will get fleeced when trying to trade him.

I also wonder if this is a sign that KD no longer wants to play with Kyrie considering Kyrie just opted in to another year.

"The people creating the product" in the NBA are compensated very well. The median salary is $4.4 Million, the highest of the big leagues. The very good are paid off the chart: Booker, Jokic, Morant, Towns signed extensions this week averaging $50 million a year. Even an average non-impactful player like OG Anunoby is making $18 million a year. And the mediocre Ben Simmons who cant shoot if his life depended on it is making $35 million a year.

NFL is where the players are really fleeced. The median salary there is $860,000, with an average career of just 3.5 years across all positions. Running backs are brutalized in college and last only 2.5 years in the NFL.

Durant is under contract for the next 4 years so the Nets dont have to acquiesce to his trade demand. They will not give him up to his preferred destinations of Phoenix and Miami for peanuts.

Chris Boucher agreed to a three-year deal worth US$35.25 million. He averaged 9.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game last season. Welcome to the NBA :(

Man, I miss old school NBA where a team draft players who stick around and play together for a couple of years. They get better and eventually make the playoffs, and, if they're lucky, you see them in the finals. Sometimes they're champs, sometimes its a memorable showing. Shoutout to 80's - The sixers(dr. j, Moses Malone, Mo Cheeks, Andrew Toney)1 championship 2 appearance , lakers (magic, Kareem, Worthy, Byron Scott) 5 championships 8 appearances, Celtics (Bird, McHale, Parrish, Ainge) 3 championships 5 appearances), 90's supersonics, magic, rockets, jazz Trail blazers and of course the bulls. These teams are historic and unforgettable!
nowadays, "superstars" and their friend and other friend and other friend want to go to cool cities (Miami, L.A, ) play together and win championships. even though they sign long term contracts and commit to playing for their current teams. But as soon as they get a call from some other superstar saying come to L.A. etc., then they want out of these legally binding contracts(Paul George OKC, Anthony Davis NO) and the league gives in to that.
if I was the team owner I wouldn't trade these guys. KD is the best player in the world!! why am I trading the best player in the world after I traded to get him on my team???? I got you for 4 more years KD!!! and if he is "injured" I'd sit him. and time would go by and he would get older (he'll be around 37 when the contract ends) so would his career and I think other teams\players would take notice of this and trades would be more purposeful and intentional. I blame this all on the media (ESPN). just my opinion.

Old school NBA still exists in the Golden State Warriors. The core of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, together since 2012, have been to 6 finals and won 4 championships. Durant interloped there and helped win 2 championships. But winning this year without him was sweet and showed pig-headed and greedy type not required to win. BTW, Durant is the best offensive player. Best player is Nicola Jokic, followed by Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Don't disagree about the NFL players but try blaming the NFL owners instead of blaming NBA players.

It's not the owners that are drawing crowds so it makes sense that the profits from those crowds aren't solely theirs. The NBA is the most player friendly league but judging by the valuations of the franchises, the owners aren't suffering in any way.

There is a formula in the CBA used for determining salaries of most NBA players. So most of those salaries are justified. Never blamed NBA players for their salaries. The greed I referred to was not in respect of salaries. It was the prima donnas who sign a contract and then ask to be traded is where I have a beef with those NBA players.

I agree that the players are definitely the talent in this arrangement. but. owners dropped the hundreds of millions (billions) to buy these teams. owners signed the lucrative tv deals, owners built the stadiums, owners pay for the advertising, marketing, promotions, back office salaries, trainers, coaches, scouts, built the training facilities, etc. owners take all the risks. ever drafted a guy who turns out to be a bust? and yes. the valuations of these franchises is the return on my investment. everyone profits

2nd pick in the 2019 Ja Morant got rookie extension - 5-yr, $193 million - a while back. 1st pick Zion and 5th pick from that draft also received rookie extensions this week. Which leaves Canadian RJ Barrett, the 3rd pick with the NY Knicks. Are the Knicks giving him rookie extension? And if so, for how much? Shall see.

I really hope the Raps don’t entertain trading for him. The guy is 34? Injury prone and seems like a quitter when shit gets tough. I like what we are doing now.
Kevin Durant had a calf problem and Achilles tear consecutively in 2019. Those were the only major injuries of his career.

The Raps won a championship when Kawhi replaced a very good Demar DeRozan. Durant is better offensively than Kawhi. The Raps have enough defensive fortitude that they win championship with Durant. Make the trade. Now.

2019: Kawhi on Raptors. 2020: Lebron on Lakers. 2021: Giannis on Bucks. 2022: Curry on Warriors. That is the NBA. One exceptional season by one exceptional player and an average supporting cast wins championships. It wasnt always this way. But it is now.
