IMHO Heifetz was too much of a technocrat for my liking. I prefer David Oistrakh - as a fiddle player he was pure musicianship. The value of his original recordings has gone through the roof, if you can find them his vinyl albums of the Beethoven Sonatas will run you $700.00 +.

Beautiful. I don't recall this long version but she's amazing although not a 'heavy' player as her older male counterparts.

I love Paganini. I have various recordings. One is the Naxos collection (google it and observe the violinists on the back cover). There's another collection I have that is performed by an Italian violinist.

In one of my recordings, Paganini wrote pieces for the classical guitar, although my brother told me that Paganini felt that the guitar was a 'toy'.
