I was out with a client the other night in town from the States.

He's a huge sushi Lover.

I had taken him to Blowfish previously and he was suitably impressed as where he comes from Sushi is only something you read about.

Anyway, for a change of pace, I suggested Kaji to him since I had heard that it was Toronto's best Sushi.

Well, the reputation is deserved.

The food was simply amazing in every detail. We both opted for the top of the line meal which was $120.00 a head (what the hell, you only live once).

(For those of you who don't know, Kaji only has 2 choices on his menu - $80.00 per person, $100.00 per person, and $120.00 per person. You need not pick anything. He picks the food you are going to get.

Every course was better than the previous and by the end of it all, I almost need a wheel chair to get back to my car.

If you are a sushi lover, I highly recommend you give it a go.

Indeed he is

I remember when he first came to Canada back in the mid 80's. Even trained under him for about 2 years.

He has trained the majority of quality sushi chefs here in T-Dot and left a few in Montreal as well.

His progeny can be found in places like Takesushi. Kaji's pastry chef and many that he has trained have come from the world-renown Tsuji cooking school in Tokyo, Japan. Arguably, on the same level as the Cordon Bleu (sp?) school in France for culinary arts.
