Tomas Kaberle's time as a Toronto Maple Leaf has finally come to an end.

After 12 seasons in blue and white, the Maple Leafs have traded the veteran defenceman to the Boston Bruins in exchange for prospect centre Joe Colborne, the Bruins' first round pick in 2011 and a conditional second round draft pick.

I'm sad to see him go. He is one of the rare talents that the Leafs had drafted in the last decade or so. And he has been loyal to the team.
He didn't want to leave the Leafs, yet he waived his no trade clause when he didn't have to, in order for the Leafs to trade him for a very sizeable return. Sundins, despite all of his "sweet" talks of how much he loved the team, didn't do it when he could have a few years back.

I know it is not going to happen but I hope Burke would resign Kaberlie when he becomes an UFA at the end of the season.

It's a 1 hour flight from Toronto to Ottawa, why so shocked ?

Tomas Kaberle was drafted in the 1996 Entry Draft, 15 years ago.

Well done, Burke. To get that kind of haul when you were essentially limited to one trading partner is damn impressive. It also helped that he and Chiarelli are good friends, and Boston was rich in picks and prospects.

My hope is that they hold onto these two late first rounders. This is considered a weak draft only because the guys at the top are projected to be good, but not great. However, there is depth and there will be good players all the way through to the third round. Puempel. Jenner. Catenacci. Musil. I wouldn't mind seeing any of them become Leafs.

So Burke has managed to 'blow up' the entire team, he's blown up upper management, I guess logically... it's the coaches next!

Weird strategy to try and make the playoffs, but definitely a good move for the future.
