Disney adaptation of the Greek legend of Hades and Persephone. It's in French, but the pictures are in English.
Amazing when you think of how many individual hand painted cells went into that production. Mickey Mouse is mentioned in the credits at the beginning, taking credit for I'm not sure what. I'm sure some on TERB will complain the goddess is overdressed....

Twenty-Four cartoons by Bill Plympton in under seven minutes, You need to be signed in to YouTube to see it. Youtube search: Bill Plympton Sex and Violence.

I'll be posting a LOT of cartoons in this thread soon, most of which aren't on YouTube, and you will have the option of viewing them online, or downloading a copy to hard drive. I have acquired better copies of several of the cartoons I've already uploaded, so I'll be upgrading those before posting them here. When I have everything ready, look for a huge batch to be posted on the same day.

Any chance you have Jeremy the Bear? (aka Colargol in Poland and Barnaby in the UK)

I don't have any of those, IFYOUSEEKAMY, but I think all of them are on this YouTube Channel, in French. I have no doubt that that's one of the several languages in which you are fluent.

The animation style looks to me a bit like The Sandman, from East Germany. There was a section on him on the 2009 UK mini documentary series The Lost World of Communism. Elementary school teachers would ask their class "What did The Sandman do yesterday?' to find out which kids were watching West German television.

This isn't the complete cartoon, but it does have the Mahatma Ghandi cameo at the end.
Another one literally based on racial stereotypes. I'm not sure this one was even allowed on TV when I was a kid over 60 years ago. This kind of thing (UNjust cartoons) had a lot more influence on kids than Kate Smith...

If people are offended by old cartoons, they should not watch them. They really don't have the right to decide that other people should not be allowed to see them. Sanitizing the past was Winston Smith's occupation at the Ministry of Truth in George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, a book teens no longer read in grade nine English class.

Only 'short bus' kids try to imitate what they see in a Bugs Bunny cartoon, but many otherwise intelligent kids injure themselves severely each year when pretending to be professional wrestlers. Keep in mind that the classic cartoons of the 1930's to 60's were shown in movie theaters, for adult audiences. Television marketed them to children.

People get extremely touchy these days about what you show their kids and TV stations have standards. Can't see Popeye vs. the Indins getting past either one. For adults, though, it's excellent social context. My Mom didn't want me watching The Three Stooges because of all the hitting, now I just love the stuff...

There shouldn't be any kids on this board. If there are, it isn't old cartoons that will corrupt their minds.

The Three Stooges aren't funny without the stock sound effects. Poking someone in the eye isn't funny. Poking someone in the eye with the violin sound is hilarious. I noticed that when I saw a video of them performing live on Frank Sinatra's early 60's TV show.
