Julia is an infrequent Leo poster - stated age 41. I'm not going to try for a link - I find they usually expire.
It's about as much fun as having a root canal to describe my experience, but in the spirit of service to other Terbites, here goes. I will do my best to be brief and try to enlighten you to a 'method' I haven't encountered before.
Contact was by text about 7:30 pm. She wasn't advertising on Leo the day I contacted her, I had noted her number from before. Asked if she was available. Yes. Initially she thought I wanted an outcall to my place and was very keen to know 'where I was located'. Negatory. So I asked her the same question - where are YOU located. Answer - I was gonna meet you and get a room at the same time. [Yup, the alarm bells are ringing but no one's at home...] She named two places with patio door access ('they know me really well'), both of which I am well familiar with too.
She asked for how long? Answer - an hour. Her Leo advertised $180/hr. I asked her how she planned to make any money if she was seeing only me, and paying for the room - which she said would be $100. She said she'd keep the room and hope to make some more money. So far, so good. Maybe... Just before I leave to make the ten minute drive I ask 'so are you getting the room and letting me know the number'. Answer - yes, that's perfect babe. Ok. This sounds reasonable.
I arrive and park on the 'outskirts' at the back, so to speak. Message her - Just arrived. Answer - come to the front. Me - just tell me the room number and let me in via the patio door. [The alarm bells are screaming but no one's listening...]
Then she calls me. I'm not keen on going anywhere near the front desk, but as I drive slowly from the back of the complex to the front I see her standing outside a darkened patio door. I let her into the car. She says this'll be the room she's getting but she needs the cash to get the room. Big Brain still has enough control to point out to her that this could entirely be a scam. Yes, believe it or not I said that. She puts on her best theatre arts and asks why I really think she would do that; and this is 'the way I support my kids'. And Little Brain is sizing her up - an average looking, somewhat curvy, I can't say no to this opportunity... So I don't. I'm sure you all know this doesn't end well.
Like an IDIOT (thank you Little Brain) I handed over the full $180. Could I not at least have counted out $100 and told her she'd get the rest later? Not a hope.
I have been scammed before. More than once unfortunately. My 'excuse' is that I haven't let myself be scammed the same way twice. But one trial learning for every scam that's out there is not a great way to learn. For anyone who has been hosed before, I have a question. Has it ever felt like this is a bit like gambling? You roll the dice, thinking you have read this situation, you know how this could go down, but you're convinced that THIS time it will be different. Little Brain will get what he wants and everyone will live happily ever after. Not to be.
After a few minutes I text - So what's up? Answer - just finishing paying for the room. Ten minutes later - I'm still waiting. No Reply. My parting shot to dearest Julia - Karma's a bitch. You'll find out soon enough.
Well, one can only hope.
