Judge orders man not to have a girlfriend for the next three years

Peterboroug, Ontario - Mr. Justice Rhys Morgan told a 24-year-old, characterized as having a dependent personality disorder, yesterday he could not have a girlfriend for the next three years.

The unusual order was added to Steven Cranley’s probation order after he pleaded guilty to six charges relating to an argument he had with his former girlfriend and a roommate Jan. 17.

Well - some might consider it a stupid order and some might consider it as a blessing from God.

I had to reduce the size of the pic of the lovely Mrs. Zanner. It was an order from the mods. Doesn't really matter because I see the real Mrs. Zanner on a daily basis, but I know many of you on here are a little disappoinited, especially Lancslad.

Whether people agree with the sentence or not, I can't see how any lawyer would accept that term for his client. There are tons of men who beat their girldfriends and yet this type of sentence would never be given to them. I understand and agree that he is a danger but one has to weigh the person's rights and to deny a person a relationship I would think goes against some sort of civil right, would it not?

I think this part is the salient bit:

If it's the relationship that brings out the potential for harm to others, then i guess that's what should be pin -pointed. How on earth that could be conclusively determined is another matter, I guess.
