I disliked him as a color commentator. I found him to be annoying and very biased towards goalies. Sort of like Greg Millen. Still he was a good guy, beloved and respected by his peers so its a great loss to the hockey community. Just heard him a few nights ago on the Oilers-Ducks broadcast. Just surreal. RIP.

Back 'in the day' I was an AP on Canucks broadcasts (christ the hours killed me) and had the joy of working with Garrett a bit. Some on-air talent could be very distant, snobbish and generally unfriendly, or have a superiority complex, while others, like Garrett, were completely gregarious fun people that made the job tolerable. I hadn't spoken to Garrett in over a decade (Rogers packaged me out in 2015) but felt sad AF when I heard this.

There are too many assholes and not enough truly nice guys, and unfortunately we subtracted from the latter on this one.

He looks and sounds like one of the best guys in the business. As a Kid, I loved his hockey cards and admired his goalie masks.

Ok, now you have to dish about the others you worked with. Come on, come on.
