Yesterday, 7 employees were laid off from my company (of less than 70 employees in total). They were devastated. I think it's an overreaction to the current economic situation. Has anyone been laid off in your company, yet?

I really feel sorry for the workers, that are the backbone of any business, to suffer for the stupidy of incompetent management or politicians who walk away unscathed.

No, not yet. Management announced plans to hire about 30 people earlier this week, 9 of which will be in my department. We're not-for-profit too.
