Jewellery store owners fend off robbery suspects with swords

An attempted robbery at jewellery store was thwarted by the quick-thinking employees and their swords in Mississauga.

Police say they were called to the business in the area of Airport Road and Beverly Street around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Four suspects allegedly attempted to break into the store by breaking a window. The employees were able to fend off the suspects with swords and the assailants fled the scene in a dark coloured Dodge Durango.

The solution according to long story Tory and chief chicken Saunders was to build more basketball courts and eliminate carding. Oh and a proposed (?) handgun ban within the City of Toronto lol - smh.

Trouble is this is in Mississauga so I guess Toronto's ban wouldn't apply ....

Good for these storeowners defending their property - too bad they didn't sever one of the robbers hands. Probably wouldn't attempt any more robberies after that I'm guessing.

Well... on one hand you want to cheer the merchants as they stuck it to the thieves but on the other hand if these robbers were more aggressive (did they have guns?) it could've ended in a blood bath. The store owners should have guns if they want to take a risk...

I'm expecting the robbers to launch a lawsuit at any minute, and the store owners to be charged. After all this is Canada.

Cops stated wrong thing to do. They could have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon
if one of the thieves had been injured or worse. Sounds crazy but that's the crazy laws we have. Did the thieves have weapons?

I saw this on the news (yes I LOVE watching the news both Canadian AND American). I couldn't believe the store owner and his son, coming out with SWORDS!!! LOL.. Never seen anything like it before other than in movies... crazy!!! I wonder if they can or will face charges?
Did the thieves end up getting away with any jewellery? That was one crazy ass video! My mouth LITERALLY dropped.
@spankingman yes I think I remember the thieves having knives or some sort of weapons.. This world is honestly CRAZY and just getting worse day by day unfortunately. I think that most of these shops should have some type of alarm system in place so that the police know to come RIGHT away instead of getting swords out and potentially hurting/killing yourself in the midst of getting the thieves.
