Has anyone a recommendation for an alternative to Itunes which is starting to drive me nuts. I am looking for one that is Mac compatible and can be used with the Iphone.

What are you looking for? An alternative for music files or the player itself?

Looking for a program that deals with files to add to my Iphone, Itunes is way too slow, makes no sense, all that syncing etc isnt simple and user friendly.

Me thinks your doing something wrong if that is the way you feel about it. There is an option to remove the auto-sync. Myself I don't have an iphone (does more than what I need it for)
but my 16 year old neice and 47 year old brother inlaw have no problems with using itunes with theirs.
to them it is just like when they were using ipods but they can call, text and surf with them now.

Thats very possible, but a big problem is that I hook up the Iphone to my computer, load up Itunes trying to delete songs for example. I see the songs by clicking on the Iphone and then music but I cant click on the songs, they are in a faded grey, what am I doing wrong?

Read it and still havent solved my problem, guess I will just have to be careful not to add any song I want to later delete, till something better comes up than Itunes.

you might like this free alternative. MediaMonkey
nice and fast with great features prefered by many people over itunes, songbird and zune software.

I'm not sure if it still does this but with Itunes, you can't move songs from a friends computer to yours. For eg: you go to his place, sync with his computer and add songs to your iphone/ipod. Then go home and upload those songs to your computer (has something to do with digital rights management or DRM).

The songs are greyed out because Itunes is preventing you from moving them.

I read somewhere that apple was supposed to remove this feature from updated releases but can't confirm because I tried itunes for 10 minutes and uninstalled it immediately.

(so much for apple apps being perfect).

For all you apple experts: is there a way via itunes to use the iphone as a MSD? (mass storage device) This way you can simply copy the music files into a folder them play them? I can sync my phone with my computer whereby OVI automatically syncs songs from my pc to my phone or I can just copy and paste them into a folder on my phone. (no not an iphone).
