It's official, my dream of early retirement is here!!

I unofficially retired at the end of 09 just due to my old employer calling it quits. I got a decent severance and with the help of a wealthy relative, I felt I had more than enough to invest and retire!

Now for the past few months I have done nothing really. I wake up late, usually between 11-2pm, hit the gym and parks for exercise and leisure, come back home for an early evening nap and maybe twice a week I hit the bars and lounges with the few good friends I have. I don't do much other than surfing the web and keeping track of my investments. I play video games and download movies, I don't travel much and I've been dating the same very busy single mom for well over a year now. I don't hobby that much either, though I can be found on terb sometimes several times a day.

My question to you all is, what would you do with the rest of my life? I thought of several, but I would just like to hear what other similar peverts would think up.

I have no idea how old you are but i can tell you that although i could probably retire now if I wanted to I have not got the slightest interest in it. So it is not something I have dreamt about or even considered. Playing video games can get pretty tired after a bit. OTB's suggestion sounds like a good one.

I don't like the people that run charities. From my personal experience most are very stuck up, and the rest are crooks.

Well if ur getting bored with what ur doin...volunteer at things that interest u or that are important to u....it can be a very fulfilling experience

and i'm a huge fan of travelling...u said u dont do it much...maybe u'll enjoy if u do it more

The thing I have about travelling is that I hate doing it alone. I have tons of family around the world but I find it odd to show up without being invited. My friends and gf are either busy or don't have the money to travel and spend like me. I think thats why I am the way I am. To be honest, I havn't told many people that I'm not looking for a job.

Start up a low risk, low stress, part time business or job to keep yourself busy. Something that doesn't stress you out and that you enjoy. When my uncle retired he took a job as a part time salesman working 100% on commission. He tried to make one sales call a day, before heading out to play golf or whatever he was going to do. Gave him something to do every day--he didn't really need the money although who really complains about extra money?

For him the benefit was it kept him out there, meeting people, involved in something. On the other hand it was completely stress free as it didn't really matter whether he made a sale or not, other than his own satisfaction. As he worked 100% on commission the supplier didn't care either, and in his case was a company he had worked with for many years before he retired so he was on good terms with them and they understood what he was doing. No high pressure quota or anything like that just an excuse to meet new people through work and maybe make a couple of bucks on the side.

A friend of mine has an Uncle that retired early. He bought a little bit of a hobby farm, an old bulldozer and a old backhoe. He spends his days digging holes and pushing piles of dirt around. Kinda of like a giant sandbox.

Apparently his grandkids think he is the best Grandpa EVER~

I think this guy was a white-collar exec, so a nice change for him...

I suspect you have a very limited view of what charities are out there. Maybe you need to expand your horizons a little bit. Maybe you should start your own charity. Or play video games the rest of your life, if that's what turns your crank.

I'm always puzzled when people ask what they should do with themselves... especially in this case when everyone's lives are such a mystery to each other.

I know what I would do, (e.g. golfing, riding, fucking, skiing, surfing (the web LOL), fucking, volunteering, building, fucking, traveling, visiting, fucking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fucking, camping, white water rafting, fucking, patio bar hoping, fucking and any combination thereof!)

but how can we suggest to others what they should be doing...

Update, during my 3-6pm nap today, I had a dream about dumping my gf and going back to school to chase young ladies in catholic school girl uniforms. Do university girls even wear uniforms?
