Mike Martz clearly threw that game. clock stoped 20 seconds left 1 timeout in the redzone down 3 and you run out the clock and kick a field goal? you don't even need to know football to know if you have an opportunity to win a game you TAKE IT! the whole team of reporters knew it, the fans knew it. everyone but Martz knew it, and as bad a coach as he has proven to be that level of stupidity cannot be accidental. yes the team played hard in OT, but it shouldn't have gone to OT in the first place.

that is my rant for the game.

these players and coaches are human, and they have to make huge decisions in the heat of the moment, and they fuck it up sometimes...I disagreed with his decision, but it wasn't fixed - just stupid.

BTW I'm glad the Rams lost...I can't stand 'em.

I don't think he intentionally threw the game, I was happy the Rams lost. Can't wait to see what he have to say. Dummy!

He didnt throw the game, but this type of unexplained managerial decision is what got Grady Little fired from the Boston Red Sox not too long ago.

I think it was a lack of confidence call. Sure, his QB had thrown a couple of pics, but that particular series they were on fire. I don't like the Rams either but it sucks to see a bad call, coaching or officiating, lose a game for the players.

Maybe he did it because he bet on his team to win.

well I hardly doubt that was fixed considering the teams involved...I highly doubt the NFL was secretly conspiring to have the barely-a-decade-old Carolina Panthers in the NFC final...

here's the big flaw with calling what he did a high percentage play, he ran the clock down to 3 seconds for the kick. a high snap, a bad hold, a penalty, or anything like that and they lose the game. if your playing conservative you run it to 8 to 10 seconds allowing for a second try at a kick if something goes wrong, he didn't. if the snap had been high this would have been obvious. but I say again, they were on the 15, at the end of the last play they had 37 seconds (that was just shown) left, and noone in their right mind would run a set of plays like this. hell they weren't even in a hurryup offence in the 2 minute drill. noone is this stupid.

Bull!

I'm in complete agreement with gramage. Coach threw the game! They had more than enough time to throw 2 shots in the end zone to win the game. EVEN IF he was trying to tie the game for overtime, he should of left enough time on the clock for 2 plays to kick a field goal. (in case the huddle was muffed)

Either way the game was really exciting, but I feel it was fixed.

Horse hockey!

Martz threw the game? No, but he sure blew the game. I don't buy the fix angle. They were down 11 with two and a half minutes left. If the fix was in, there were easier ways. Rams just weren't that good, IM-never-very-HO. Hell, they lost to the Lions fercryinoutloud with home field advantage on the line. To say nothing of that Sunday night debacle when they someshow won with hardly any total yardage...

Nifty rant for post number 500, eh?? ;)

Why I Love NFL Football

Who cares if the NFL Games are fixed or not.....while eveyone one was watching the game, I went to a coffee shop and met an attractive and somewhat sullen lady (married) who explained to me the her hubbie spends more time watching football on Sunday's than being with her.....in the end telephone numbers were exchanged and well a dinner/dinning date may be arranged for SuperBowl weekend......

Well my wife watches the games with me, knows most of the teams and actually understands the rules of play...Lil'Miss actually gets hot when I talk about football...I couldn't handle being with a chick who hates sports.

You think Martz is a dummy, what aboout sherman of the Packers. 4th and 1 with 2:30 left, up by 3 on Phily's 40. Phily can't stop Green. What's his decision :

lets punt the ball into their endzone and give McNabb 2 minuties plus to score a field goal, which he did with ease. Sherman should be hung in green bay for hthis decision.

that was a mistake, but one I can semi-understand for one reason: 4th and goal inside the one the eagles busted up the play. the eagles did a poor job against the run overall but every now and then they stoned them at or behind the line, and if that happened McNabb would have had an easier drive to tie/win the game. but still a huge mistake. Jimmy Johnson said it perfectly in the pregame with his poker analogy, it's the team that goes all in that comes out ahead, hedge your bets and you come out a *****.

That's funny, I was thinking the same think with GB. Both the Rams & Packers blew it for not being aggressive.

Thank you Marky Mark. I was hoping I wasn't the only person that thought that Sherman is the only person on that team that lost the game.

I'm not disagreeing about Martz, but honestly, I thought I'd blow a head gasket watching Sherman defuse Brett Favre and the Pack.
