There are a few. One of the newer ones is Avanti on Hwy2 just west of Simcoe St. another is Sopprafino's on Celina (which is right around the corner from previously mentioned) and if you like a little drive Mondo Cafe in Whitby is my preference.

Fazio's

Don't believe the negative reviews of Fazio's.

I have been going there for over 25 years and have never had a bad meal--maybe the odd bad waiter (but they don't last long).

Top notch and best wine selection in GTA.

This is a spectacular thread...

I tried a place which for the life of me I can't remember what it was (ya, helpful- I know) but it wasn't anything special.

I'll have to check out one of these when I'm up on Wednesday!

I'm glad this post popped up 'cause the other day I was thinking of posting who makes good Italian sandwiches in Durham (a nice veal on a kaiser in particular).

Any recommendations or would any of the above mentioned establishments make good sandwiches too?

Hey Brianna is that Mondo Café the place across (to the east) from Captain Georges Fish and Chips downtown?

What he said. And, Fazio's wine cellar is most impressive.

great sandwiches

The tomatoe sauce on the veal sandwich has no flavour and way to much breading on the veal itself. l have had way better.

If you are into Penne Arrabiata...may l recommend Fazios Pizza on Taunton and Simcoe...unfortunately its' take out only.

Out of the way a little, but Casa Verde in Pickering is wonderful. Nice , small, intimate restuarant where the owner does the cooking for the most part. Wonderful menu and sauces, and given the quality very reasonable.

that plus expensive and a tough chew...I always thought veal was suppose to be tender....Nick Fazio on Taunton for take out...if you go to Pompeii on Celina and prebook a dinner as the have a restaurant there there veal parmesan is the best anywhere but you have to reserve days in advance and not because they are busy but to prepare. They are very passionate about there food. He personally raises the veal calfs.
