Hey guys - please advise...

I think I have a virus - I've done the 'live update' but nothing happening.

What happens is that when I surf, if I point to a link, it often changes the destination.

The link will read "www.tooncomics.com/main?=phpTEEN" (for example)

This is on my work PC - don't want to get busted. PLEASE help.

Thanks...

JH

Sounds more like spyware than a virus.

Go to download.com and install the latest version of Ad-Aware. Run a full scan. And surf with a condom on.

Temporary...

A temporary quick fix is:

Go to www.mozilla.org and download Mozilla Firebird (about 7 megs) - it's a great alternative browser to Internet Explorer but without all the vulnerability of IE because it's not directly hooked up with Windows (throught the registry and all...)

I've been using it for a few months and love it.

Goober - your rule! Thanks man.

Now, Ad-Aware has caught a bunch of files, and quarantined them. How do I blow them away before IT guy gets here?

Goober for PM!!

You're the best, Goober.

Ah, the happy feeling that I won't be busted. And that I was not caught! Nothing better.

Papa - tried Netscape, but 'back' and 'fwd' buttons were greyed out. What the...!

An alternative to Ad-aware is Spybot Search and Destroy.

I use both...found that each will miss a few things.

Dump IE browser....

IE lets all the junk on the net in. I have IE but use it as a last resort, then when finished, run Ad-aware to clean out the junk it picks up.

Opera browser is my favorite, been using it for years. It's free and the fastest browser I found so far.

I also use the Mozilla browser at times and like it to, it's just like Netscape only better, faster and free.

Why Not?

Any idea where to download "Spybot Search and Destroy"? I use Adaware and like it but maybe a bit more protection is in order.

I thought this was a post for help needed at "IT"

I figured Rusty would be all over this like Oprah on a buffet table.

I, for one would take the job as "fluffer" for the girls.

Paigey? I'm coming baby!!! ;)
