Israel has begun leaking details of what its requirement that Gaza be demilitarized could look like, apparently based on the framework that was put in place at the end of the 2006 Lebanon war.

Key concepts:

1. Recognize the Palestinian Authority as the only legitimate government in Gaza

2. Deploy Palestinian Authority forces along the Israel/Gaza and Gaza/Egypt border

3. Require the elimination of all rockets and rocket factories

4. Deploy UN weapons inspectors to search for rockets and verify compliance

5. Install both a strong international and a Palestinian Authority force at Gaza ports, crossings, and airports, to inspect all cargo, and reopen them

6. International supervision of building projects to ensure concrete, piping, etc, not diverted to tunnel building

7. A UN Security Council resolution requiring all the above with UN inspectors reporting progress to the Security Council

No doubt Hamas will oppose this as it effectively shuts them out and disarms them but it seems like a reasonable way forward.

"[Masaal] justified the indiscriminate targeting of Israel with rockets — more than 2,000 have been fired from Gaza al over Israel in the past 16 days — by claiming that Israelis were not civilians but rather armed settlers. "

He is a confessed war criminal and he needs to be brought to justice or killed.
