Hello Terbnation.

I'm in need some assistance... I have a very important formal event to attend in the New Year and would like to have a suit made to measure for the occasion. Unfortunately, I have no experience with these services here in T.O.

Does anyone have any personal experience with a Toronto tailor, specifically someone who made a suit for you that they are really happy with?

Much appreciated...

Geez! That's short notice. Just get a suit of the rack!

It takes 4-6 weeks from a quality tailor.

Try:

The best in Toronto! If you have the time & money.

Well, he did say that he has to attend a formal event IN the New Year, not on New Year's Day.

So for all we know, the event could be on December 31, 2008.

Harry Rosen

Go to Harry Rosen and have a JP Tilford or Samuelson etc suit custom-made for you. You won't regret it. Other Italian labels are available custom-made as well. Go there and ask. They have the experts to help you pick and choose the right fabric and style for you.

If you want a great suit with class, try Lou Myles. He's now in Woodbridge, used to downtown on Yonge for years and served entertainers, royalty, tycoons, athletes, and other famous people and dignitaries around the world. Lou also used to private label for places like Harry Rosen, he's recognized as a leader in his field.

You can also search the following for a location near you:

Not much quality at Moore's IMO.

Lou Myles is great. His styles can seem a little dated, but the quality and fit are amazing.

Harry Rosen sets the standard in my opinion, at least for relative afford-ability. I am sure there is better, but you are going to get an excellent suit for a reasonable price.

I have had suits made at Spiro's on Danforth by appointment only, Korry's, also on the Danforth. I'd recommend these two highly.

Also have good quality suits from Ben Berke, Bulloch, Lou Myles and Antoacci's. I think. I have a lot of hand tailored suits, so I'm really not sure. There was also this Chinese place off Spadina whose name escapes me and I'm not sure it's there anymore. They also made some exceptional quality suits.

Harry Rosen and Tom's Place though have fine selections of 'off the rack' suits that are also excellent quality and easily fitted.

Forget about Rosen's - grossly overcharge - Try Korry's on the Danforth - great Quality, awesome in house tailors and you can certainly get what you want when you want it - Saul won't be there as he goes to St. Maarten this time of year but his son or Franco will take care of you - and none of the bullshit Rosen prices.

Woodbridge

Tony at House of ROme in Woodbridge. I have about 6 suits from him. Great quality, all hand sewn. HE's the real deal, trained in ITaly etc.

toronto and us
Nice Canadian made suits, good quality---a little bit expensive---at Value Village, U have to go thru a lot, but lots of well made, tailored quality. No 4-6 week wait, unless U want to wait for their next half off sale.

thanks...

... I never said I wanted it for new years eve... I said in the new year. I mean what kind of idiot tries to get a made to measure suit in one week! This event isn’t until next summer.

I think I will try Spiro on the Danforth, and if I don’t like what he has to offer I will try Lou Miles.

I already have several suits from Rosen’s, Korry’s, and Tom’s place. oh, and I haven’t bought anything at Moore since I was like 19!

Thanks again.

Call Don Lee at Trend Custom Taliors, he has great fabric and really knows his stuff, he can do great finishing work also (like vented shoulders, my favourite, so you can move your arms). Prices range from $850 to $1100 depending on fabric but he is one of the best in town (and I get that from two rich gay friends who KNOW).

He bought a new building and is now at the corner of Gerrard and Sherbourne (I know, nice 'hood). But free parking in back. He treats you well.

Forget the Moore's shit, do these people know ANYTHING???

Trend used to be on Spadina, maybe that's who rama is referring to.
