If it's a problem with the "phone" capability, that'll be local to your service provider - phone services don't go through the RIM infrastructure. It's ("just") the text email that's associated to your BB's "PIN" and gets redirected between your BB, your carrier, RIM, and your Email host.

according to http://www.dataoutagenews.com/ there was an BB outage of sorts. It didn't affect by Bell Berry (for work) but did hit my personal one (Rogers)

Try popping out the battery for a second. If that didn't work, call your provider and ask for a "resend to switch", then do the battery thing.
