I was asked by a number of SP's about this. While I am sure that there isn't such a thing, I thought that the collective experiences of Lawyer Terbites and working ladies here would come up with some guidelines.

Questions like :

1)Emails - can they be used against you in a "sting" and what not to say.

2)Outcalls - exchange of monies - is the "open envelop" method ok ? Will it withstand the legal system of money exchanged.

3)Use of a long term rental place (rented by the SP) that is not the SP's regular residence- Will that still get her into trouble?

4)How to counter a "sting" operation ? LE touching you may not be enough to claim entrapment ?

I know that some of these questions have been answered in one way or another before. I just feel that a more methodical compilation will benefit everyone.

Sexworkers Handbook...

Although not all the specific questions you are asking are completely answered... there is a handbook for sexworkers available at: www.chezstella.org

Also I have a few copies in my office. Any sexworker who wants one can PM me.

Thanks, TheNiteHwk.. but,

while the site is fairly comprehensive and covers a lot of ground, it is mostly "Reactive" when it comes to the LE issues.

I understand that there might be legal problems for the site if it were more "Pro-active" concerning LE issues. Nevertheless, it is an informative site and I will direct my friends over to it.

Thanks.

I heard there is really good computer encryption software out there. It simply cannot be broken by LE.
But I guess encryption would be useless against e-mail.

ALMOST ANYTHING TO DO WITH PROSTITUTION IS ILLEGAL IN SOME WAY SHAPE OR FORM. WE ARE ALL VULNERABLE. THERE IS NO MAGIC STRATEGY TO NEVER GETTING CAUGHT.
I agree with your advice, the initial question sounds like the person is in the U.S. not Canada.

But your conclusion is not true if you stick to adult outcalls. Anything related to consenting adult outcall including, ads in magazines, E-mails, phone discussions etc are totally legal with no legal risks in Canada unlike the U.S.

Just to clarify..

I am only concerned about Canadian Law.

On point#3, the SP will be "working alone" and would not want to work in her private home. So, a second location is rented for meeting clients there only. Is that still considered a "Common Bawdy House"?

Also, what if the private home (she lives alone) is used instead ? Still a "Common Bawdy House" ?
