Is the SP industry recession proof?

Watching the markets makes me wonder if I will be able to afford an SP again. I know that answer is yes just cause I am a male, but the market does worry me.

Everyone is complaining about inflation, rising interest rates, too much spending and not enough spending.

And yet, the SP industry (along with SB's) seems to continue without missing a beat.

So is the industry mainly supported by the top 20% of earners and therefore recession proof?

I understand most vices defy the ups and downs of the market.

Just thinking out loud.

Cheers

It is not recession proof. Will it die off completely? No. But it will slow down.
What does "slow down" look like? Fewer SP's? Agencies close or restructure the pricing?

No. Slow down as far as our volume of clients.

if a lady is use to 2-3 a day. It may go down to 1-2 a day. It may mean more advertising for less of a return (meaning less clients from that one ad). Just an overall lower volume and therefore making less profit overall.

For me - it has been less profit due to higher costs. So that will effect as well. Soon I could see a lower client volume but I have yet to see that effect.

I know that you host at various locations Jenesis. Between the cost of gas and increased hotel rates and increased restaurant costs it is not hard to imagine that while travelling that your costs have increased as much as $100 a day.

As far as the recession- my guess is that other than the obvious inflation going on that at least 2/3rds of hobbiests would not even know if a recession was going on except for watching the news and reading the newspapers. The fact that gas might be costing an extra 1k/year is more of a talking point than a real hardship.

I think that it is surprising how many hobbiests can easily afford the 5k- 15k that they spend on their favourite pastime without affecting their regular lifestyle.

But for the other 1/3rd that are hugely impacted by both inflation and a recession [ when it occurs] they will probably have to really cut back on their sexy pleasures.

All discretionary spending slows down when someone starts to feel an economic pinch. or gets worried about their job or start seeing their bank account/portfolio shrink. Noticing that agencies are brining in a lot of new talent. Either there's lots of pent up demand or some of the ladies need to supplement their incomes.

I think it really depends on the sp. There are some that wont face any ill effects of a recession simply because there really popular and have an existing client base that will go see them no matter the price. It might effect sp's who are looking for new clients more adversely since new clients may not be financially capable to see an sp refularly. I mean there are some sp's who are booked 2 months on advance already.

This is a strategy to promote a sp and get more bookings. Personally I have not met an sp that I will book two months in advance.
But there are some who will.
I have cut down my play time from 4 to 3 times a month. Just being cautious with my spending. Who knows what next with the economy.

I really think it's the later... A few hundred $ extra each month help to cover crazy gas, food and everything else. Even rents are through the roof. Paying like 2k rent per month is simply nuts! So they need to make up for it. I knew an sp in Montreal that would fuck the tenant once a month instead of paying rent. Now she needs to fuck him 3 times per month for the same apartment. Inflation is not just in my pants the tenant said ;)

I seem to recall from The Economist that back at the heights of the last economic fucker when Greece had bills, they're multiplying that you could purchase coitus for the cost of a Big Mac. Not shocked, you maternal fornicators don't want to know what sort of debauchery I'd do for one of those tasty Big Macs in my pie hole.

Or if you prefer

Or the more modern

Either way it might be recession resistant but it isn't recession proof.

If things get bad enough maybe they will start of offer lawn furniture as an inducement. That would be sweet.

Back in 2009 I saw an SP a few times who told me that she had planned to retire but that the recession of 2008 cut her business in half. She had to keep working longer than she intended. Some of her regular clients made an appointment to see her one last time to say goodbye.

Do you have any idea how long she stay for after 2008?

Men will always find money for women, taxi, and food ( for women ) any where in the world. Roof over head or eating healthy can be sacrificed.

I think she kept working until early 2010.

We are already seeing the signs of recession with the agencies. (Asian agencies excluded. They don't follow the same rules as reputable agencies; e.g., they lie in their girls profiles, hence very unreliable. Yet guys still line up to see these girls. This is what happens when there is a severe shortage of supply [of Asian girls].)

Six months ago new girls would jump from $250 to $300 per hour only after week or two of starting at an agency. Now prices of agency girls are sticking much longer. Some girls that would have been VIP six months ago are staying Elite. A case in point is SFT's Nisha. Although very fuckable [saw her once] but not a repeat for me, she easily has all the attributes of being VIP; yet, she has stayed Elite for over 3 weeks and counting. Also, the overall higher prices - compared to last year - has attracted new entrants, locally and abroad [e.g., Latin girls]. This additonal supply has started to create a surplus. You fellas know what I mean. Our TDL is getting very long and it is harder to decide who to see. (This is a good thing. Some will call it a buyer's market!) And when there is a surplus of product and money supply becomes tighter, prices will increase much much slower. Sure there will still be girls that will try to command higher rates but that will be at the expense of reduced business. And given that hotel and transportation costs have gone up over 25%, girls will need more volume - not less - to make up for these costs. In other words, constantly raising rates will only result in less business and higher expenses.

At the rate of increase (inflation) we were seeing last year, I thought for sure we were going to see the $250/hour rate completely vanish. But it is still here. And I definitely thought the $300/hr VIP rate would be $350 by now. It is very clear that inflation has slowed. We are seeing a recession in the housing market. That was a sure sign that agency escorts were next.

The price for prostitutes has always been a reliable indicator of the direction of economic growth.
