Is it worth going to Havana just for a day?

I'll be leaving to Cayo Coco, Cuba in just a phew days and I'm wondering if it's actually worth taking a day trip to Havana? I know you have to take a plane there is it worth the hassle? I guess if it's worth going there just for a day to see the sites is there something that I should experience ( the food etc).
I know I'll have a couple of hours to see the city on my own maybe I can hobby real quick if there is a possibility of that let me know if anything like that is available there.

That's the thing I booked a resort already in cayo coco and I know they have some kind of tour that takes you to Havana for a day . So i'm debating if it's worth the trip or should I just wait and go there when I'm closer to Havana i.e. Varadero

Don't even bother going to Veradero. Spend a week close to Havana in the eastern beaches. There should be a bus available to take you into Old Havana or you can take a taxi. Then you can take your time in Havana instead of just a day trip. I got the impression from people that have been that cayo Coco dosn't offer much opportunity to do anything off the resort unless you take an excursion.
