is it possible to fight off a tiger?

I was just wondering, if a tiger attacked you in the jungle, do you think it's humanly possible to fight it off (hit it on the nose or something) or are you basically fucked?

note: no sexual innuendo here, I know how some of you pervs like to get carried away!

Theoretically if you were in just the right spot you could beat off the tiger, if it liked you then there would be no need to fight it off. Of course YMMV

You could probably fight off an old tiger like Alan Trammel but probably not a younger one like Magglio Ordonez.

Actually your chances are pretty good unless the Tiger is desparately hungry or percieves you as a competitor for a mate. Most wild animals fight each other over mates and little else.

Unless motivated by extreme hunger, most predatory animals are very cautios have little enthusiasm for a struggle. They are concious of conserving energy and not suffering any minor injuries which could affect their competitiveness for mating. Mostly they look for easy meals - old, crippled or juvenile anaimals.
