Is it only the GTA that has no health waiting lists?

In light of the comments by serveral posters saying that they had never experienced waits for healthcare. I'm interested in the comments on the following Los Angeles Times article http://www.latimes.com/news/nationw...hcare-canada27-2009sep27,0,5526937,full.story
on wait lists in British Columbia and the pending court action regarding private insurance and clinics in B.C.

Most of my family is in rural Ontario around Ottawa and for non-emergency stuff like my one grandfathers hip replacement the wait was a little long (a while back so I may remember wrong but I think about 6 months) but for anything serious like my other grandfather having a benign tumour once it was found it was removed pretty much immediately. And no one in my family needs to fear a private company doing the math, finding them to expensive and telling them to fuck off.

Most doctors want to go to the bigger cities. And all the facilities are there. No one wants to get stuck in rural Canada.
