From Sticky:TERB Posting Guidelines:

3. Differing points of view are welcomed as long as everyone acts with the appropriate respect and decorum. Yes, tempers may be raised but remember to act like responsible adults.
5. No abuse, name calling, derogatory statements or insults that are not OBVIOUSLY given and received with good humor will be tolerated.

Is it just me, or are these guidelines frequently ignored in the lounge? I won't mention any names, but I find that there is often not a respectful decorum. Some people feel they need to insult others with whom they disagree. It happens so often that I feel Fred can't delete the posts or half his website would disappear.

Not-obviously-funny disrespect and insults, that don't draw the wrath of the mods, tend to come between higher volume posters who hold grudges. These people can usually take care of themselves. While half of TERB may seem like a bunch of schoolgirls fighting over One Direction tickets, this is actually one of the more peaceful period here, IMHO. Also, 'not-obviously-funny' can be a matter of cultural references and 'subtle', and neither of those carry well on the internet. I suspect that the mods are inclined to ignore a lot of this stuff up to the point where it draws complaints, crosses the line of utterly vicious and hateful, runs into the realm of the potentially criminal, or violates some other rule.
