Forecast for this year is that the big TV players will be pushing Ultra HD big time, and the prices on regular HD TVs will drop significantly. There is no settled standard for UHD blu ray yet, but Some providers, like NetFlix, are gearing up to deliver native UHD content. This is leading some industry commentators to say that blu ray is dead, in favour of online delivery.

Any thoughts?

I think it doesn't matter the media, but the bitrate of video stored.

As long as the player can play the high bitrate required by Ultra HD, then I think it should be fine

The problem might be the storage limit of Bluray disks: 50Gb.
