The Daily Mirror in the UK just got burned on the pics they published regarding Iraqi prisoners being abused by British troops.

It turns out that the pics were fake - now....what purpose would fake pics serve?

Very simple... people who are anti British/u.S. and want to discredit them will use these pics as a propaganda tool to sway more voices to their cause.

One interesting theory (although not one that I believe) is that Karl Rove-type Neo-Cons faked the Brit pics to try and deflect some attention from the US scandal and discredit the generally more positive press that the British troops have been receiving.
